Australia is a vast country, I visited the Cairns area, Daintree rainforests and Fraser Island in Queensland, in the northeastern part of Australia, and Sydney in New South Wales. All photos were shot with a Nikon D100, most with the Nikon 24-120 VR lens. Whales and birds where captured with Nikon 80-400 VR. For a photo travelogue click here.

Each year the humpback whales migrate from Antarctic to the sub-tropical coastal waters of Australia where they mate and give birth during winter and spring. Platypus Bay off Fraser Island offers unique photo ops for whales captures.  (click image for more) 

In Kuranda, near Cairns, a mountain top village in the midst of a rainforest, a butterfly aviary houses a large variety of local butterflies. (click image for more)
