September 2003 was a great time to visit the Canyon. Weather was great, clear, not too hot, in the 80s midway down the canyon. Best time for photography of course were the magic hours, five thirty in the morning for sunrise, sunset around seven in the evening, fabulous! Split ND filter helpful. Storms over the canyon created interesting photo ops: fog, clouds below the canyon rim. The Condors flying overhead are a remarkable sight. Bring your longest glass, see their number and radio transmitters on each wing. (Condor number 10 shot with 200mm.) I found it a bit strange, numbers and transmitters on a majestic bird, I know it is necessary for their survival, I guess it says something about our times.
