The Galapagos Islands have a long been a photo destination of mine. I was fascinated by the discoveries Darwin made on the islands, the geology and unique species found there. From seeing photos and various programs about the Galapagos I concluded it must be a wildlife photographer's dream, and indeed it is, as the many photo in the gallery above show. The most remarkable experience in the Galapagos, is the fact that the wildlife has not learned to see mankind as a threat, it allows for intimate approaches and close up observations of behaviors and appearances, and permits close up photography that can seldom be encountered elsewhere.
Click the camera icon above for a photo tip page, for now, I will mention that ninety five percent of my shots where taken with 18-200 and 80-400 mm lenses. The 18 to 400 mm focal length on a DSLR is optimal for Galapagos photography. I had a 12-24 lens but really did not need it and no photo opps where found requiring my macro lens.
